Monday is usually a food related post, so I thought I would tell you all about my applesauce headache.

In a vain attempt to get nutrition into my children, I insist they take one healthy snack to school each day. For a long time, they opted for applesauce. My daughter wasn’t happy with the regular applesauce, so I bought her the more expensive applesauce blended with berries. This worked for a while, although I noticed the apple sauces were starting to come back home at the end of the day.

Well, a couple of weeks ago my daughter had a playdate at a friends house, and the mother gave them apple sauce that came in a squeeze bottle. What’s the difference between regular apple sauce and apple sauce in a squeeze bottle? About 50 cents a piece. That and my daughter loved it. She begged me to get some, and in an effort to get fruit into her, I bought a  box at Costco.

So it was all going great. Every morning I put a squeeze apple sauce in my daughter’s bag and every day the bag came home empty. Then, a couple of days ago, my daughter came home with a bag of chips. I certainly did not send her to school with a bag of chips. The following conversation ensued:

Me: Where did you get the chips.

Daughter: From my friend.

Me: Why did she give you chips?

Daughter: She traded for my apple sauce. Everyone loves to trade for my apple sauce!

So it turns out that daughter has been trading her expensive applesauce for chips and cookies. *head desk*
