Yesterday I was at the NY Sheep and Wool Festival. It was tons of fun, and by 9 o’clock last night I was so exhausted I could barely keep my eyes open. I may not have had any alcohol to drink, but I find the morning after a fiber festival leaves me with a woosy/hangover like feeling. Yes, excessive yarn exposure can cause intoxication. So here are 3 tips for the day after:
1. Pet the Yarn – Yes, you spent an unholy amount of money yesterday. Lie in bed and pet your purchases.
2. See the Friends – One of the fun parts of festivals is seeing friends you don’t get to see that often. Drop them an email, or get together for lunch or coffee today.
3. Grocery Shop Accordingly – I know it’s wrong on so many levels, but I get a really strong craving for lamb after a sheep festival.
Oh I sooo want to lie in bed and pet the yarn! I may have brought it to work with me. It’s hiding under my desk so I can periodically look at and fondle it lol
two balls or fewer (ugh fewer than two balls ), the implication is that you have one ball or two. Fewer doesn’t cnotone fractions, does it?If we were to say that all the projects required less than a single ball of yarn (like, less than a Pound of Love or whatever they’re called), we wouldn’t say one ball or fewer , it’d be one ball or less , because the fewer alternative would be nonsensical, and we’re using one ball in this context to denote a quantity that is not strictly defined it could be 100g, but it could be 50 g, it could be 100 yards, the point is that it is put up in a single unit. I think the selection of the title for two balls, here, was made with this in mind. Why am I defending this book’s title? Why didn’t they use skein and therefore avoid all sorts of jokes? Is skein too uptown or something?I’d like somebody to write a book called One Cone Or Less: Try Committing To A Large Project For A Change .
Ah, i see. Well that’s not too tricky at all!”
