Nothing could make me miss Texas more than today’s weather – my part of Connecticut is in the mid-60s right now. And of course the only thing better than Texas is Texas AND yarn. During my Austin trip I stopped in at Hill Country Weavers. It’s about 1500 square feet of pure yarny bliss.

When I was little I would visit my grandmother’s house. No matter how many times I went, I would always discover a new treasure hiding there. That’s how I feel about Hill Country Weavers- it’s a house of yarn just waiting for you to discover something new.

I was really impressed with the selection of yarns there. As I walked through the rooms I would think to myself “Oh this is pretty”, “Oh, look! They have that yarn.”, “Oh wait, they have that one too”, and “Wow, here’s that new one”. I spotted old favorites, yarns that were just coming out, and some that I hadn’t even heard of before (apparently that’s still possible). They also had a very nice selection of project bags and other accessory items. My budget flew right out the window. 🙂

I think my favorite part of the store, and what makes it so Austin-y, was the yarn swift and ball winder in the kitchen. Seriously, if you could create your perfect yarn friendly house, wouldn’t you want a swift in the kitchen?

If you’re in the Austin area, check out Hill Country Weavers. I dare you to try and leave there empty handed.
