I live in Connecticut, and if you’re a fiber fan around here, then October is a huge month. Oct 15-16 is the Dutchess County Sheep and Wool Festival (also referred to as Rhinebeck). The next weekend, Oct 20-23 is the Stitches East Expo. Both events are great opportunities to learn, have fun, and shop. Here are the two main items I’ll be on the look out for.

Yarn made from Blue Faced Leicester Wool – I fell in love with this sheep breed at last year’s Rhinebeck. This year I’m going to make sure and pick up yarn made from its wool.

Cooperative Press Project Goody Bags – Cooperative Press has been doing something neat lately (and I’m not just talking about the books they’ve put out). At both Sock Summit and Vogue Knitting Live they sold project bags with exclusive artwork on them. The project bags had yarn inside…and an entry into a drawing for an iPad. Not bad considering that only 100 bags were available per event. I’m hoping to scoop one of these babies up at either Rhinebeck or Stitches

Cascade 128 Chunky – While LYS hopping in Texas I bought one skein. It was just enough to make my daughter a scarf. But….well….d’uh, MOM, I need a matching hat!
