There’s always something you have to put off doing. Here are 5 ways I tend to procrastinate:
1. Procrasticleaning – When I need to put something off, I tend to start doing house work. I’ll do laundry, organize a drawer, get the dishes going. This is a great way to put off work, unless of course the work you’re trying to put off is cleaning.
2. Planning – If I have to do something I don’t want to, I sometimes plan it out in mind numbing detail. Yes, planning is a good thing. But if you spend 1 hr using excel to create a chart to help you plan out what should be a 20 minute activity…well…yeah.
3. Media – Yes, watching tv shows is still a great way to pass the time that should be spent elsewhere. And don’t even get me started on Facebook.
4. Shopping – There must be something I need to pick up at Target, right? Then I’ll go home and work.
The running joke in college was that the only time our dorm rooms shone was right before finals! All of a sudden everyone would go on a cleaning binge.
The running joke in my college was that whenever you saw a guy dressed really nicely (fancy slacks, dress shirt, etc) it was because he hadn’t done laundry in so long that he was out of clean clothes.
I am still in the process of kinntitg a baby blanket for a friend. Once I am done with that I am doing a afghan of knitted squares in different stitches. Mostly for practice, but also because I think it will look cool.
