A frequent question that comes up on forums for crochet and knit designers is whether to write the pattern before or after you make the finished item and what sort of notes to take. Well, a long time ago (ok less than a year) I posted a free pattern for a premie hat I made for donation at the CGOA Professional Development Day. I made the hat during the presentations and had to turn it in the same day; I knew my notes and the one grainy cellphone camera photo would be all I would have to rely on to write up the pattern. I’m providing a scan of my notes to give you an idea of what information I copy down for a project. You may notice that my notes are on a form that I created and printed onto green paper. I use green paper so that these note sheets will stand out when I’m looking for something amid the huge piles o’ stuff on my desk.
You can compare these notes to the free pattern.
This is brilliant. I love the green paper idea. Thanks for sharing. I found you on Ravelry in the Budding Designers group.
